| Equinox is the nearest boat on the far side of the river. |
We went for a run before breakfast this morning. Our first run for at least ten days. Early morning is the only time to go. After that it is far too hot. It felt good to be out in the morning cool fresh air. There was a great view of our pontoon, from the other side of the river.
Chores continued during the day and at the end, we felt we had moved
on a lot in getting our living accommodation in better shape. I unpacked the
clothes that I had left here and got a few surprises of things I had forgotten
I had. Before we left England I bought a new rash vest, thinking I didn’t have
one. There were two already hear, so now I have three.
Our evening meal, from Nona Isa, was a fish risotto of sorts, with
squid, mussels and prawns. It was delicious and it seems we are having a
Mediterranean diet on steroids. It is such a joy to sit out on deck to eat our
evening meal.
Beyond the clothes left here, there is also a great game of discovery, mostly good but some not so. The fridge is working well enough to make ice, and we discovered a bottle of gin and some tonic that we had left behind (expecting to be away for 4 months only). We thought it only wise to see if the gin had gone off - it hadn't! We also found some Pringles deep in a cupboard, still sealed and "in date" so we tried them too, they were exactly as they should be. Goodness knows what preservatives they put in them. Less good were some biscuits that had been sealed but were still a bit soft, some jam, which wasn't great when we bought it and hadn't improved with age, and some tins, that we consigned straight to the bin.
More discoveries to follow.
