Bosa - 8 September 2021
We started the day with a run, and but the time we had spoken with our two neighbours and the boatyard staff who were around, I reckon we managed 4 different languages before breakfast.
When it is really hot, there can be no more satisfying thing
than splashing a bit of water about, so we embarked on cleaning the decks to
make us look a little more presentable.
Tricia also wanted the guardrails clean so that we could dry some washing.
So I set to with hose, brush, clothes and deck cleaner. It really doesn’t matter
if you get a bit wet, when everything dries so fast.
One of the surprises that we discovered was while inserting
the little paddle wheel that measures the boats speed. This goes right through
the hull and there is always a bit of trepidation when you remove the bung and
quickly try to push the paddle wheel in, while the sea is trying to rush
into the boat. To do this we have to lift some of the floorboards, and we
were perplexed to see a sort of florescent blue jelly like substance in this
part of the bilge. Eventually we worked out that it was leakage from a bottle
of washing liquid that had split, probably not able to withstand the changes of
heat and thus pressure over 2 years. There were a couple of small cracks in the
bottle. This was quite difficult to clear up but that part of the bilge is now
very clean.

Later in the day we walked to Bosa and did a major supermarket shop, getting a taxi for the return. We can eat again!
