We start again - 30 August 2021

After a long enforced absence, we will now restart writing the blog of our travels. I’m not sure if I have missed doing this, or if it will start to flow again naturally. It may take a few days to get back into the swing.

We have arrived back at Bosa, where the good ship Equinox has been in hibernation since October 2019. Today is not the start of the trip, as we have already been in Italy for a few days, initially undergoing the mandatory self isolation for 5 days, and then attending our eldest son’s wedding. It was a joyous occasion, but this is not really the place to go into detail about that.

For those that haven’t experienced foreign travel in the era of Covid, it entails a good deal more bureaucracy than before. We had to take tests in the 48 hours before travel, complete forms both before and during the flight, then self isolate for 5 days and finally get a test to release at the end. The last leg of the trip was an internal flight from Pisa to Alghero in Sardinia, which was much less hastle.

We have rented an apartment for a few days, while we do the initial preparation of the boat and have her launched. It is not possible to stay on board while she is out of the water. Regrettably the apartment is on the fourth floor, and there is no lift. Fortunately as we had travelled here on RyanAir, our bags were less the 20 kilos each, but only just.
