Solanto - 16 September 2021

We were delighted to plan to leave Termini Imerese today. It has been an interesting stop over. We found the marina staff to be absolutely lovely, along with all the other people in the town that we had interchanges with, but we have discounted it as a place to leave the boat over the winter. It is an industrial town, which just lacks some of the services we need for closing up the boat at the end of the season.

We had a good walk up the steep cobbled streets, to collect the laundry. The boss lady was obviously happy that nothing adverse had happened to our clothes. She had ironed the shirts, despite us having said we didn’t need it. It was lovely to see the immaculate packing of beautifully pressed and folded clothes; rather a treat, while we are on the boat.

The fishing boats and marina. We saw they end of a fight between 2 fishermen!

We headed out of the harbour about midday and, as soon as we were outside the protection of the harbour wall, we had a big swell of metre and a half waves, which we just had to motor through, as we were going straight into the wind. We knew this was going to happen, as we were heading out before the sea had had chance to calm down after the recent high winds. The prize was being able to anchor in the bay of Solanto, where we stayed a few days ago. Again it gave us good protection from the wind and waves once we were in. We were treated to a fabulous calm evening, the only other vessel in sight being a fishing boat. This was a different guy to the other day and the net he laid at least had a flashing red light at the end of it.

We are retracing our steps, towards, initially Balestrate, then ultimately Trapani.
